My last couple of days back in Bangkok were fairly quiet, or as quiet as they can be in a city as crazy as Bangkok, although thinking about it even Bangkok seems somewhat tame compared to Pattaya!

Visiting Siam Square

My bus from Pattaya got me back in Bangkok around 3pm on Sunday (14 December) and I checked back into Khaoson Immjai – the hostel I stayed in when I arrived here (which coincidentally seems ages ago now!).

My friend Anna, who I met in Koh Kood and who is on exactly the same flight back to England as me, also checked into the hostel. After having a bit of a wander around the city Anna joined me for dinner on Sunday night and then came to watch Manchester United v Liverpool with me on the Khaosan Road (not sure how interested she was in it!).

Monday was my last day and Anna and I got a taxi over to Siam Square. Siam Square is a big shopping and entertainment mall – filled with shops selling the latest fashions and also, very handily, fully air-conditioned.

We both had a wander around and did some Xmas shopping on the cheap and then headed back to Khaosan Road and did more Xmas shopping even cheaper! Much different from doing my shopping in the cold and wet in England!

Home again

So yesterday day (Tuesday 16 December) it was time to fly home after a whistlestop couple of months back in South-East Asia. I got the airport shuttle at 10am and got to the airport at 11am and flew home, back to the cold and wet at 1.30pm.

It has again been a fantastic experience and wonderfully nostalgic to revisit some old haunts and explore some new ones. Once again I have met some fantastic people that I hope to keep in touch with for a long time.

If you are thinking about travelling just get out there and do it. Please.
